What's included
Masonry repair is water management in a different form. Failed joints, a cracked chimney crown and broken parging all do the same thing: let water into an assembly that was designed to shed it.
The crown is where chimneys usually fail, and you cannot see it from the ground.
What it costs
We publish real numbers rather than "it depends" — but only once they're ours to publish. Our written ranges are being finalised; call and we'll give you one over the phone in a minute. What moves the number:
Working with us
We measure, check drainage and grade, and talk through what you actually want. Free, and no pressure to sign anything.
Scope, materials, base depth and price in writing. You'll know exactly what's included before a shovel moves.
Ontario One Call locates booked, materials ordered, start date confirmed. A realistic window, not an optimistic one.
Excavation, base, compaction, install. Site cleaned at the end of each day — you still have to live there.
We walk it together before final payment. Anything on your list gets fixed, then we're back if settling shows up.
Questions
Raking out failed mortar joints to a sound depth and refilling them. It is what keeps water out of a brick wall. Mortar is designed to be the sacrificial part — it fails before the brick does, and replacing it periodically is normal maintenance rather than a defect.
Not much. Chimneys take weather from every side and the crown at the top is where they usually fail first — and it is invisible from the ground. Water getting into a chimney shows up as staining on an interior ceiling long after the damage started.
A cement coating over exposed foundation wall, between grade and siding. It is protective as well as cosmetic, and when it cracks and falls away it lets water at the block behind it. It is also one of the fastest, most visible improvements to the front of a house.
Often closely, rarely perfectly — brick colour shifts with age and production runs change. Where a repair would be conspicuous, taking brick from a hidden elevation to patch the visible one usually gives a better result.
