Interlocking driveway
The biggest hardscape job most homeowners buy, and the one where quotes differ most — almost always because of base depth.

Most contractors in this market publish no prices at all. We publish the drivers — what makes a number go up or down — plus a calculator that gives you real base and material quantities for your own dimensions, so you can check any quote you are holding against the same arithmetic.
Estimate the materials
Enter your dimensions. This returns the quantities our standard section actually requires — not a price, and not a guess dressed up as one. No competitor in this market has one.
Rough quantities only, at our standard section: compacted Granular A at the depth selected, placed in 75–100 mm lifts, plus a 25 mm screeded HPB bedding course. Paver count assumes a common 200 × 100 mm unit with 5% added for cuts. Send us the dimensions and we will put a price against them.
Guides
Each guide covers what is included, what changes the number, and the questions worth asking any quote you are comparing.

Driveway costs →Material choice and height off grade drive this one. Height brings footings, stairs and railings with it.
Deck costs →The highest-value interior job, and the one where a permit question can change the number completely.

Preparation method is the whole cost story here. Grinding costs more than etching and is the reason the floor is still there in year five.
Epoxy costs →Not a cost guide as such — a straight comparison of what each one costs you over time, not just on install day.
Compare the two →Cheaper now or cheaper later. The ten-year arithmetic is closer than most people expect.

Because the honest number depends on things a web page cannot see: what is under the existing surface, whether a machine can reach the work, how much material has to be carried out, and what you want on top. We would rather give you a real range on the phone in a minute than a headline number we have to walk back on site.
Nine times out of ten, base depth. It is the largest single cost in a hardscape job and the only one the homeowner cannot see once the work is finished. A driveway on 150 mm of base quotes considerably cheaper than the same driveway on 300 mm — and settles in about three years. Ask every quote how deep the base is and in how many lifts it is compacted.
No. On-site estimates are free and there is no obligation to sign. You get a written scope naming the materials and the base depth, which is what makes quotes comparable in the first place.
Yes, on materials, and it is set out in the written scope along with the payment schedule before any work starts.
