What's included
A paint quote is really a prep quote. What separates a finish that looks new from one that looks painted-over happens before the first coat.
The line item worth comparing between quotes.
What it costs
We publish real numbers rather than "it depends" — but only once they're ours to publish. Our written ranges are being finalised; call and we'll give you one over the phone in a minute. What moves the number:
Working with us
We measure, check drainage and grade, and talk through what you actually want. Free, and no pressure to sign anything.
Scope, materials, base depth and price in writing. You'll know exactly what's included before a shovel moves.
Ontario One Call locates booked, materials ordered, start date confirmed. A realistic window, not an optimistic one.
Excavation, base, compaction, install. Site cleaned at the end of each day — you still have to live there.
We walk it together before final payment. Anything on your list gets fixed, then we're back if settling shows up.
Questions
It is the job. Filling, sanding, caulking gaps and priming patches is most of the labour in a good paint job and none of the visible product. Two quotes that both say 'two coats' can be completely different pieces of work.
Yes. The room is masked and sheeted, the texture is scraped, then the ceiling is skimmed, sanded and painted — the skim coat is what separates a flat ceiling from a patchy one. Note that texture in homes from roughly the late 1980s or earlier can contain asbestos; where age suggests it, it gets tested before anything is scraped, and if positive it goes to a licensed abatement contractor, not to us.
Depends on the surface. Walls and ceilings are cut and rolled. Cabinets, doors and trim are sprayed where we can mask properly, because a sprayed finish on millwork is visibly different from a brushed one.
A typical main floor is three to five working days including prep. Cabinet spraying adds several days, most of it drying between coats rather than working.
