FOUR40 replaces garage doors across the GTA — insulated sectional doors, torsion springs, openers with safety sensors, plus the jambs, floor and apron. Free on-site estimates.
What's included
A garage door is fitted into a frame, above a slab, behind an apron. Replace only the door and whatever was wrong with the other three is now framing a brand new one.
Doing these together is the difference between a new door and a finished garage.
What it costs
We publish real numbers rather than "it depends" — but only once they're ours to publish. Our written ranges are being finalised; call and we'll give you one over the phone in a minute. What moves the number:
Working with us
We measure, check drainage and grade, and talk through what you actually want. Free, and no pressure to sign anything.
Scope, materials, base depth and price in writing. You'll know exactly what's included before a shovel moves.
Ontario One Call locates booked, materials ordered, start date confirmed. A realistic window, not an optimistic one.
Excavation, base, compaction, install. Site cleaned at the end of each day — you still have to live there.
We walk it together before final payment. Anything on your list gets fixed, then we're back if settling shows up.
Questions
In an attached garage, yes — and more than the R-value alone suggests, because the garage shares a wall and usually a ceiling with heated rooms. In a detached garage you are not heating, it matters much less. If the garage is a workshop or a gym, insulate it; if it stores a lawnmower, spend the money on the opener instead.
Torsion — mounted on a shaft above the opening — last longer, balance the door better and fail far more safely. Extension springs along the tracks are cheaper and are what many builder-grade doors ship with. If you are replacing anyway, torsion is the upgrade worth taking.
Either way: do not adjust or replace a spring yourself. They hold enormous energy and they are the reason garage doors send people to hospital. This is genuinely not a DIY item.
Often, if it is in good condition and rated for the new door's weight — an insulated door is heavier than the builder's door it replaces. If the existing unit predates modern safety sensors, replace it. Photo-eye sensors on an auto-reversing opener are not optional on anything built in the last few decades.
That is usually why people call us rather than a door company. A new door against a cracked apron, rotten jambs or a slab that has heaved looks half-finished. We do the door, the framing, the epoxy floor and the interlock apron outside it as one job.
